BlockBeats news, October 23: The Ethereum Foundation announced that the Glamsterdam upgrade, originally scheduled to activate on the Hoodi testnet at 17:42:48 (UTC) on October 26, 2026, will be postponed, with a new activation date yet to be determined. Core developers decided to delay the upgrade at the 248th Ethereum Consensus Layer Developers Meeting (ACDE #248) to further investigate the interaction between EIP-8037 and Ethereum mainnet smart contracts.
This postponement will cancel the originally scheduled Amsterdam execution layer activation and Gloas consensus layer activation arrangements, while also revoking the previously planned setting to raise the Hoodi testnet gas limit to 200 million within the same cycle. The Ethereum Foundation emphasized that this adjustment only rolls back the configuration for future upgrades and will not roll back historical on-chain data on the Hoodi testnet. The upgrade originally scheduled for October 26 is no longer planned, and the new activation cycle and specific timing will be announced later.
