Beating AI News Flash: Swedish legal AI company Legora has announced the completion of a $550 million Series E funding round, reaching a post-money valuation of $8.8 billion. The round was led by Atreides Management, with participation from JPMorgan, Fidelity, and other institutions.
In March of this year, Legora's valuation was still $5.6 billion, rising approximately 57% in just seven months.
Founded in 2023, Legora primarily helps lawyers review contracts, search legal materials, draft documents, and execute multi-step workflows through AI Agents. The company disclosed that its annual recurring revenue (ARR) grew from $1 million to $100 million in less than a year and a half, and then surpassed $200 million in just under half a year.
Currently, Legora covers more than 2,400 law firms and corporate legal teams worldwide, with over 140,000 legal professional users. The United States has become its largest revenue market, with more than half of the top 50 highest-revenue law firms in the U.S. as its clients. In the third quarter of this year, in-house legal teams contributed more than 40% of new customers.
Legora is competing with U.S. legal AI company Harvey for market share. The new funding will be used for global expansion and to develop an AI Agent operating system for lawyers, enabling AI to go beyond assisting with reading and writing to further participate in legal research, case intake, and continuous regulatory tracking.
