Sources: BOJ to decide at next week's meeting whether inflation has reached 2% target

BlockBeats news, October 21 - According to Kyodo News, sources familiar with the matter revealed on Wednesday that the Bank of Japan will assess at next week's policy meeting whether the potential inflation rate has reached the 2% target. If this determination is made, it will mark a symbolic turning point for the Bank of Japan, signaling that the bank will bid farewell to its long-standing monetary policy orientation aimed at combating deflation.

The Bank of Japan first set a 2% inflation target in January 2013. Despite implementing an aggressive monetary easing program, the bank has repeatedly postponed the expected timeframe for achieving this target. If the target is finally reached, it will have been nearly 14 years since it was first proposed.
