Citigroup: Aave is poised to become a decentralized collateral liquidity protocol, bridging tokenized assets and financing.

BlockBeats news, October 20 - Citi Research released a report stating that viewing Aave solely as a crypto-native lending protocol is no longer complete. As tokenized assets, stablecoins, and institutional participation gradually enter mainstream finance, Aave is expected to be positioned as a decentralized collateral liquidity protocol. Projects such as Aave V4, Horizon, and GHO all point to the intersection of collateral, liquidity, and financing.

The report notes that if tokenization determines which assets enter the blockchain, and stablecoins become the default settlement foundation, Aave may help determine how these assets are financed, leveraged, used as collateral, and integrated into capital markets.

Citi believes that as tokenization expands from stablecoins to money market funds, private credit, treasuries, and even future equities, collateral circulation may ultimately become one of the most important application scenarios of tokenization. Aave provides a practical case demonstrating how tokenized assets can be used for collateralized borrowing, financing, and rehypothecation within the digital financial system, and also offers a perspective for observing the future of tokenized capital markets, securities financing, and even prime brokerage.
