OpenAI suspected of testing next-generation image model: three "Aurora" codenames emerge, red and green versions already exposed.

Beating AI News Flash, October 18 - Developers discovered that three mysterious codenames briefly appeared in OpenAI's API model list: aurora-red-alpha, aurora-green-alpha, and aurora-blue-alpha. All three models are named after Aurora (the Northern Lights).

Initially, some netizens speculated that they were experimental follow-up versions of GPT-6. However, the AI model evaluation account Lumina subsequently drew the red and green versions in Arena's image generation blind test and showcased the cat images they generated. The red version produced images faster, while the green version had better image quality. No public generation samples are available yet for the blue version.

The community therefore speculates that these may be different test versions of OpenAI's next-generation image model.
