BlockBeats news, October 19: Bybit CEO Ben Zhou recently said in an interview with Wu Shuo that Bybit had covered the losses caused by a previous North Korean hacker attack through operating income such as trading fees by the end of last year. He believes that more trading platforms will still suffer hacker attacks in the future, and security systems should be designed on the premise of "assuming they will definitely be stolen."
Speaking about industry competition, Ben believes that the golden period of expansion for global trading platforms has passed, and the industry will further consolidate in the future. Regional trading platforms with licenses and local operating capabilities will still have development opportunities. He disclosed that Bybit's profit this year has declined year-on-year, and its traditional asset trading business such as stocks is currently not enough to offset the impact of its crypto business.
Regarding the U.S. market, Ben said Bybit is still waiting for a suitable opportunity to enter and prefers to cooperate with local institutions that have a retail user base. In the next year, Bybit's core strategy will focus on regional development and deep localization. In addition, he also discussed the differences between the Bitget security incident and the Bybit theft incident, the large-scale application of AI within the platform, and the data security challenges it brings.
