Zakura proposes allocating independent viewing keys for each ZEC cross-chain swap to guard against future quantum computer decryption.

BlockBeats news, October 19: The Zakura team behind the new version of Zcash software released an engineering article proposing to allocate a separate viewing key for each ZEC swap completed through NEAR Intents, in order to defend against future quantum computer privacy threats.

When users swap ZEC for USDC, NEAR Intents publicly displays one of the user's Zcash addresses on the NEAR public chain for refunds. This address carries a public key generated from a viewing key, and future quantum computers could potentially use Shor's algorithm to reverse-derive the key and link all of the account's incoming payment records and memos. Zakura's solution gives each swap its own dedicated viewing key, keeps the spending key in the user's main account, and locates refunds through private information retrieval (PIR).

The team said wallets based on its open-source library, such as Vizor, could support this within weeks, earlier than the January quantum-resistant payment target set by Zcash developers.
