BlockBeats news, October 19 - World, the identity project co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, announced the official launch of its World ID verification product for banks and financial institutions. This is the project's first industry-specific custom suite, unveiled at the Money20/20 conference. The suite integrates three products, including the World ID app identity wallet that stores users' "proofs," World ID for Zoom for confirming whether a call participant is a real person, and World ID for Agents (AgentKit), which allows users to delegate identity verification to AI agents. Among them, World ID for Zoom is now fully open after completing limited testing in April, and its main developer Tools for Humanity has also joined Zoom's independent software vendor program.
In terms of implementation partnerships, World stated that it is discussing applications of the technology in financial services with design partners such as OpenExchange, Bain Capital, VanEck Funds, and Outtake, but did not disclose the names of specific banks using the product or its pricing. World noted that with the spread of AI, enterprises increasingly need individuals to provide "proof" to reduce fraud risk.
According to Deloitte forecasts, AI-driven fraud losses in the United States are expected to reach $40 billion by 2027. Currently, more than 18 million people worldwide hold World's "proof of personhood." In addition, it launched the World Money self-custody app covering more than 150 countries last month and raised $52.5 million through a WLD token sale in July.
