BlockBeats news, October 17 - Apple said pre-order demand for its first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, was "extraordinary," with shipping times extending from November to December within minutes of pre-orders opening, then further delayed to late January 2027, affecting all storage configurations from 256GB to 2TB and all colors. Apple said it is working to improve delivery efficiency, with the first deliveries set to begin on October 23.
The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999, with the top configuration priced at $3,200. It features a 7.6-inch inner screen and a redesigned iOS experience for the foldable form factor. Apple is facing component shortages common across the consumer electronics industry this year, especially insufficient memory chip supply, which has also forced it to raise prices across its product line. Apple will also launch a MacBook Pro with a touchscreen and other devices later this month.
Bloomberg Intelligence analysts Anurag Rana and Josh Christensen raised their sales forecasts, believing iPhone Duo sales could exceed previous estimates of 14 million units and $28 billion in revenue for Apple's fiscal 2027. If the model successfully attracts existing iPhone Pro and Pro Max users to upgrade, the overall iPhone average selling price could also rise significantly.
Apple shares rose 0.43% on Friday to $343.46, up 1.61% over the past 5 days.
