BlockBeats news, October 15 — According to HTX market data, XPL briefly surged over 6% following news that Stripe and Plasma are partnering to launch a multi-currency stablecoin card, currently quoted at $0.08223.
Previously reported, Stripe announced a partnership with Plasma to develop a multi-currency stablecoin card, aimed at enabling individuals and businesses to spend in currencies they already hold in their accounts, reducing unnecessary currency conversions and foreign exchange costs. Plasma will serve as a design partner, integrating into Stripe's stablecoin card infrastructure, allowing customer account balances to be used for payments via the multi-currency card.
The expanded infrastructure will support the US dollar, Brazilian real, euro, Mexican peso, and Colombian peso; stablecoins include USDC, OUSD, and qualifying stablecoins that meet GENIUS Act requirements. Stripe's stablecoin card service currently covers more than 30 countries and plans to expand to over 100 countries by 2027.
