U.S. PPI and retail sales data both exceed market expectations.

BlockBeats news, October 15 - The U.S. September PPI annual rate came in at 6.3%, the highest since May 2026, exceeding the market expectation of 5.3%. The U.S. September PPI monthly rate came in at 1.3%, significantly higher than the market expectation of 0.5%. The U.S. September retail sales monthly rate came in at 0.8%, above market expectations.

Affected by rising energy costs, the U.S. September producer price index comprehensively exceeded expectations, indicating that the impact of rising energy prices is transmitting to various sectors of the U.S. economy. The data may also prompt Federal Reserve officials to continue raising interest rates in the coming months, especially as another report released on Wednesday showed that a key U.S. consumer price indicator rose more than expected in September.
