Ledger launches Atom Android device, adding tamper-proof protection features.

BlockBeats news, October 15: Crypto hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger unveiled the Android device Atom at the Op3n event in Paris. The limited Founder's Edition is priced at $849, with pre-orders requiring a $100 fully refundable deposit, and the regular retail price upon launch will be $899. The device is expected to begin shipping in summer 2027 and still requires certification.

Atom uses an FPGA chip to isolate the Android environment from a secure mode used for reviewing and signing transactions, while also supporting everyday Android apps. Solana Mobile plans to integrate its wallet and dApp Store as the Seeker app into Atom, with transaction signing handled by the secure mode. The device will also come pre-installed with OpenClaw, allowing users to review transactions proposed by AI agents through Agent Intent without exposing private keys to the agents.

In response to recent hardware wallet tampering incidents, Ledger said Atom can detect screen, casing disassembly, and drilling into core areas, with anti-tamper sensors still powered by an independent battery after shutdown. The company said its core protection features can block the screen-reading implant attack used in that incident. The device will be sold exclusively through Ledger's official website.
