BlockBeats news, October 14: Billionaire and legendary hedge fund manager Paul Tudor Jones said on CNBC that 2027 could be an extremely challenging year for US stocks, with the market potentially facing the most unfavorable capital flow environment since 2002. He believes that the corporate buyback and M&A trends that supported US stock gains in recent years may reverse, while IPOs by AI giants and subsequent follow-on offerings will further increase stock supply.
Jones pointed out that potential listings by AI companies such as OpenAI and Anthropic, as well as financing needs brought by AI infrastructure construction, could drive companies to issue more shares. He compared the current market to the eve of the dot-com bubble burst, arguing that a dense wave of IPOs and share lockup expirations could create sustained pressure on the market.
In addition, Jones warned that the continued expansion of the US fiscal deficit may ultimately force the government to adjust fiscal policy through market pressure; if oil prices rise by another $20 to $25 after the US midterm elections, it could also deal a clear blow to the stock market. He said he holds long positions in oil and stated bluntly: "I will be short for a whole year."
