This massive sum has made Musk the largest donor in the history of U.S. midterm elections. To preserve the Republican Party's Senate majority, Musk donated a total of $158 million to the "Senate Leadership Fund" this summer, one of the largest political donations in U.S. history. Musk also established a major Republican voter mobilization operation through his super PAC "America PAC," founded in 2024.

He donated more than $76 million to the organization this summer to build a vast canvassing program aimed at mobilizing hard-to-reach Republican voters. In the 2025-26 election cycle, Musk has donated approximately $366 million to federal committees, far exceeding his approximately $290 million investment in the 2024 election. According to people familiar with the matter, he also provided more undisclosed donations in both elections.
