Tinder Parent Company Doubles AI Budget, CFO Begins Auditing Token Bills Employee by Employee

动察 Beating AI News Flash: Bloomberg interviewed CFOs from multiple companies and found that US companies are beginning to tighten AI expense management. Some enterprises are setting token quotas for employees, tracking individual spending in real time, and prioritizing cheaper models for simple tasks.

Tinder parent company Match Group allocated $5 million for its AI budget at the beginning of the year, and by May it had doubled to $10 million. The company tracks each employee's spending in real time. To exceed the quota, employees must first prove the use case is valuable. Sysdig, a cybersecurity company, has a CFO who checks token consumption daily.

According to Bloomberg statistics, S&P 500 companies mentioned "Token" 157 times on earnings calls last quarter, nearly 4 times the number from a year earlier. An EY survey shows that 82% of surveyed executives at companies investing in AI are worried about related costs, but only 64% said their companies have monitored usage and set clear budgets. EY also estimates that when subscription, infrastructure, and management costs are included, the total cost of deploying AI agents for enterprises is about 3 times the token bill.

But cost pressure has not caused companies to collectively reduce AI investment. In the EY survey, 37% of relevant executives said their companies are considering expanding AI deployment, while only 15% are considering scaling it back. As enterprises strengthen cost controls while continuing to increase AI investment, they are beginning to measure more strictly which use cases are worth spending on.
