BlockBeats news, October 12: Hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger released a 72-hour update on the hardware implant attack incident, stating that it is cooperating with relevant authorities to continue the investigation, that the number of affected devices is limited, and that it has proactively contacted affected users. All confirmed cases related to the theft incident disclosed on October 9 involve devices sold through Southeast Asian distributor CryptoBilis. Ledger emphasized that its own systems and direct sales channels were not affected, and CryptoBilis has confirmed that it has stopped all hardware wallet sales.
Ledger advises users who purchased devices from CryptoBilis: do not initialize uninitialized devices; if setup has already been completed, they should transfer to a new seed. If there are concerns, they can contact the official website support channel, and the support team is available 24/7. Ledger also reminds authorized dealers and distributors to purchase only from authorized channels, never relist returned products, and advises users not to purchase from unauthorized dealers. Ledger emphasizes that it will not proactively call, send private messages, or ask for the 24-word recovery phrase.
