BlockBeats news, October 11: After hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger confirmed that devices sold by Southeast Asian distributor CryptoBilis had unauthorized hardware implants, analyst Darkfost compiled a list of "Ledger distributors to be wary of," identifying merchants in regions adjacent to that distributor whose supply chains may also be affected, including Lazada, Shopee, Tokopedia, Bhinnekon, Metapod, and others. The list marks CryptoBilis as suspended, while the risk exposure of the remaining distributors is unknown. Darkfost emphasized that this is speculation rather than confirmation, but if users have purchased Ledger devices from these distributors in the past 6 months, it is recommended to move assets to a safe location before the incident is resolved.
Ledger officially stated earlier that the incident appears to be limited to this single distributor and its market, and that its own infrastructure, systems, and services were not compromised, with the investigation still ongoing. Darkfost suggested that users willing to inspect their devices themselves can refer to teardown guides to confirm whether the hardware has been tampered with.
