BlockBeats news, October 11: Ledger Support has issued an update stating that it has confirmed an unauthorized hardware implant in the device of one affected user, and is currently contacting the affected user and continuing to investigate the matter. Ledger is calling for anyone with information to come forward and says it is cooperating with relevant law enforcement authorities to hold those involved accountable. Out of an abundance of caution, CryptoBilis has confirmed the suspension of sales of all hardware wallet inventory until the investigation concludes, and Ledger is actively communicating with it on follow-up measures.
Ledger states that there is currently no indication that its security infrastructure, systems, or services have been compromised. For users who purchased Ledger devices from this reseller, if they have not yet completed the initialization setup, it is recommended that they temporarily refrain from starting the setup; if setup has already been completed, they should consider transferring assets to a new Ledger signing device using a new mnemonic phrase.
Ledger emphasizes that security threats are constantly evolving, and the company is continuously improving its security protections and advancing more sophisticated tamper-resistant solutions. It also reminds users to be vigilant against scams exploiting the situation and to obtain the latest information only through Ledger's official channels. Ledger will not ask users to provide their 24-word recovery phrase.
