BlockBeats news, October 11 — According to a report by the UK's Financial Times, people familiar with the matter revealed that Nvidia (NVDA.O) is in talks to acquire US startup Reflection AI or increase its investment in the company.
Reflection AI is an open-weight model developer. The negotiations are still in the early stages, and the deal could take various forms, including a so-called "acqui-hire," in which Nvidia hires Reflection's employees and obtains licenses to its technology, thereby avoiding the lengthy regulatory review typically required for a full acquisition.
Nvidia is already one of Reflection's largest shareholders and may also choose to deepen the relationship through further equity investment or by reaching an agreement to provide the company with more chips and computing power. People familiar with the matter said the two companies could reach a deal within the coming weeks. Reflection was valued at $25 billion in a funding round in March this year.
