BlockBeats news, October 9: Olaf Carlson-Wee, founder and CEO of Polychain Capital, announced at the Network State conference that Polychain is leading a new funding round for Network School, with a valuation of $2 billion. Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Coinbase, and Balaji himself, among other institutions and individuals, participated in the investment. The specific funding amount was not disclosed.
Olaf stated that Polychain's investment strategy is not solely focused on incremental improvements, but on seeking projects that use new business models or new technologies to solve problems in different ways. Network School is building an internet-native form of human organization, bringing online social networks and organizational logic into the physical world, offering people a peaceful option to enter a parallel system.
Network School is a frontier tech community/entrepreneurial social experiment project initiated and founded in 2024 by former Coinbase CTO Balaji Srinivasan. The project integrates technology learning, remote work, entrepreneurial exchange, and co-living, aiming to explore a new internet-first form of social organization. It gathers like-minded members through the internet and has them live, learn, and work together in physical spaces, exploring new models of community organization.
