Abstract will shut down Abstract Chain on December 15, and users need to migrate their assets before then.

BlockBeats news, October 7 — Ethereum L2 Abstract announced in a post that after nearly three years of operation, it will gradually shut down Abstract Chain, with on-chain services planned to cease on December 15, 2026. Users can migrate assets to other chains through the Migration Hub or the native bridge; using the native bridge is expected to take about 3 hours. The official team reminds users that assets not migrated by the deadline will become inaccessible.

Abstract said that over the past 18 months its ecosystem achieved significant growth, with Portal becoming a product for on-chain discovery and distribution, and Abstract Global Wallet (AGW) also becoming a smart contract wallet with relatively high adoption in the crypto industry. In addition, Abstract has deployed more than 144 applications and attracted participation from global brands such as Red Bull Racing and Disney, bringing more than 400,000 users to Abstract in total.

However, Abstract said that as the industry environment changed, its single public chain model focused on the consumer crypto sector ultimately proved difficult to sustain, and growth began to be affected by factors such as a limited DeFi ecosystem, insufficient on-chain liquidity, limited institutional participation, and limited budgets compared with competitors. The team tried over the past 12 months to find a new product-market fit, but ultimately concluded that continuing to devote resources to maintaining an operationally unsustainable public chain lacking scalable growth was not the best choice, and therefore decided to shut down the network.

The official team advises users to complete asset migration as soon as possible and to be wary of fake migration websites and private messages impersonating the official team, verifying migration links only through official channels.
