BlockBeats news, October 1 — Jerome de Tychey, co-author of EIP-8363, stated that the proposal will be withdrawn from consideration for inclusion in the Hegotá upgrade. After its release, EIP-8363 quickly became one of the most discussed proposals in the history of the Ethereum-Magicians forum, receiving more than 200 comments within weeks. As the Hegotá "Considered for Inclusion" (CFI) process advanced, various industry parties as well as Ethereum core protocol and client contributors believed that the upgrade scope discussion was not suitable for determining issuance policy adjustments, so the relevant team decided not to continue pushing the proposal into Hegotá.
Jerome de Tychey said the team still stands by the original intent of EIP-8363 in proposing issuance policy adjustments, believing that an excessively high staking ratio may affect Ethereum's security, neutrality, and capture resistance, while also potentially weakening ETH's role as money. Around this proposal, the community currently has five main areas of concern, including the impact of different staking ratios on network security, the impact of changes in staking yields on related industries, whether the existing issuance curve is suitable as an adjustment tool, possible changes in validator composition, and the impact of lowering staking yields on solo stakers.
He said the team had already conducted extensive discussions on the above issues on the Ethereum-Magicians forum and had made concessions and adjustments to some proposals. In order to form broader consensus and develop a more complete ETH issuance policy, the team believes it is necessary to establish a dedicated process independent of specific network upgrades and to invite the community and various industry parties to participate. Some institutions, including Lido, have expressed willingness to help advance the related work, and the team has now also begun formulating a multi-party participation process plan.
