DeepSeek Harness Desktop Officially Released: Ready to Use Out of the Box on Mac and Windows

BlockBeats news, September 29 — DeepSeek officially released the Harness v0.2 preview and opened downloads for macOS and Windows desktop clients.

The installation packages that had previously appeared on official servers now have an official website entry point. After downloading and installing, users can directly log in with their DeepSeek account or use an API Key.

The new version focuses on filling out the desktop daily-use experience. Harness can now directly handle documents, spreadsheets, and PDFs, generate charts and presentations, and also modify projects and run code. Files, code changes, and Agent execution processes are all displayed centrally in the conversation and sidebar, and scheduled tasks have been added so repetitive work can run automatically on a plan.

Plugins have also moved from "installable" to a formal product feature. Users do not need the command line; they can directly enter an npm package name on the plugin management page to install, disable, and uninstall plugins. The experimental creation mode also allows Harness to write plugins itself and load them for immediate use. DeepSeek says that currently about 60% of Harness users use third-party plugins.

The company also announced its subsequent roadmap for the first time, including long-term memory, automated operation of browsers and other GUI software, remote and mobile use, multiplayer collaboration, and Agent Team.

DeepSeek says that, based on the official model API user count, Harness has become its Coding Agent product with the highest daily active users and average daily conversations among its users.

Eligible users who log in to the desktop client for the first time can also receive a limited-time 6 yuan trial credit.
