On the eve of Trump's meeting with AI executives, David Sacks bluntly stated that the "AI threat theory" is a "conspiracy" by Democrats to obstruct AI development.

BlockBeats news, September 29: In the latest episode of the All-In Podcast, hosts including David Sacks, Chairman of the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, and Silicon Valley venture capitalist Chamath Palihapitiya characterized the recently heated discussions about AI going out of control and "human extinction" as a public opinion operation serving the political goals of the Democratic Party.

David Sacks said bluntly that over the past few weeks, some have tried to make the public believe that AI will bring about human extinction, and thereby accept the policy line of "stopping all AI development"; he believes that the so-called "doomsday groups" have already laid the groundwork in advance for this narrative.

The program then turned its fire on the proposal pushed by Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders to restrict superintelligence. Sacks believes that the relevant definitions and criminal liability will create a strong chilling effect, causing U.S. AI development to stagnate; he further said that the Democratic Party will, just as it previously treated the crypto industry, push AI innovators and companies to move overseas. AI infrastructure has become an important engine of U.S. economic growth, and slowing down AI investment and construction will simultaneously weaken the economic performance of the Trump administration.

Angel investor Jason Calacanis echoed this, saying that if the United States directly bans such software, companies and developers will seek more permissive jurisdictions such as Singapore and Switzerland.

Chamath Palihapitiya also said that if regulation uses a "pause button" to lock in the current industry landscape, a small number of left-leaning frontier AI companies will lock up the vast majority of economic gains, and then further help the Democratic Party gain power through charitable funds, political action committees, and political donations.

The related debate is now entering the center of policy-making in Washington. Trump and House Speaker Johnson plan to meet with AI company executives on September 29 to discuss the balance between artificial intelligence development and regulation, with frontier model safety, open-source models, data center construction, and regulatory boundaries expected to be the focus. The meeting is expected to be held at around 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time in the East Room of the White House.
