NEAR Co-founder: Decentralization does not mean lack of organization; the crypto industry should proactively curb criminal activities.

BlockBeats news, September 29: NEAR Protocol co-founder Illia Polosukhin posted that the crypto industry is facing a choice: either become more mature, or risk being marginalized under a lack of targeted regulation. He believes that claiming decentralized systems cannot take action is not consistent with the facts, "decentralization does not equal disorganization."

Illia stated that although banks use AI to identify fraud, their systems are highly centralized and rely on KYC, and KYC has not solved the real problem. The crypto industry has richer data and talent and can build systems that do not rely on KYC while effectively curbing criminal activity and safeguarding the freedom of normal users.

He believes that through industry collaboration, criminal activity in the crypto space can be gradually eliminated; compared with the market size that promotes the migration of overall economic activity on-chain, the market size corresponding to criminal activity is much smaller.
