Revolut Secures Approval to Acquire Argentina's Banco Cetelem, Plans Entry into Local Banking Market

BlockBeats news, September 28: Crypto-friendly bank Revolut has received approval from the Central Bank of Argentina to acquire Banco Cetelem Argentina, a bank under BNP Paribas. Upon completion of the transaction, the bank will be renamed Revolut Bank Argentina S.A.U.

Revolut stated that after the deal closes, the new bank will not immediately offer products or services to the public, but will first complete regulatory and operational preparations for its subsequent commercial launch. Argentine media expect it may officially launch services in 2027.

Revolut said that more than 150,000 Argentine users have already joined its waitlist. The company has already launched licensed banking operations in Mexico and continues to expand in Latin American markets such as Brazil and Colombia.
