Bitget Livestream Key Takeaways: Withdrawals Have Been Restored in Phases and the "Peer Program" Has Been Launched, with Related Risks Fully Investigated

BlockBeats news, September 28: Bitget CEO Gracy Chen and Greater China Head Xie Jiayin focused on responding to the handling results of the security incident that occurred on September 25 during the "Bitget Security Incident Review" livestream.

Gracy stated that the affected assets are currently confirmed to be approximately $387.5 million; the platform's investigation believes the incident involved vulnerabilities in third-party security products, theft of related credentials, and forged withdrawal instructions. Gracy Chen said that cold wallets and private keys were not affected, and the platform is working with security agencies, law enforcement departments, and relevant trading platforms to advance fund tracking and freezing.

Xie Jiayin focused on responding to the fund security issues of greatest concern to Chinese-speaking users. He stated that the current investigation has ruled out the possibility of private key leakage and internal personnel involvement, and user account balances, cold wallets, and the vast majority of the platform's assets remain secure. Regarding the previous suspension of withdrawals, Xie Jiayin said the direct reason is that the incident involved multiple chains and multiple wallet systems, and the platform needed to complete chain-by-chain security verification to avoid resuming fund flows before risks were fully eliminated.

On compensation arrangements, Xie Jiayin stated that the Bitget User Protection Fund will cover the confirmed losses in this incident. Since its establishment in 2022, the fund has consistently remained above $300 million, and before the incident its scale was approximately $464 million. After completing coverage, the protection fund's scale will be replenished as soon as possible.

On the trading platform side, Bitget resumed BTC withdrawals at 16:00 on September 28, ETH-related networks are planned to resume at 16:00 on September 29, USDT-related networks will resume at 16:00 on September 30, and other tokens, fiat currency, and P2P services are planned to open gradually at 16:00 on October 2. As of this Friday, Bitget will restore withdrawals for all tokens across the entire platform. Withdrawal channels for regular customers, KOLs, and VIP customers will open simultaneously, with no priority treatment of any kind.

To reassure users affected by the incident, Gracy Chen announced that Bitget is launching the "Peer Program." For VIP users and non-VIP users, the platform will distribute exclusive bonuses over the next month equal to 30% of users' actual retained net handling fees, and will simultaneously provide VIP benefits; for Pro customers and market makers, Bitget will launch an institutional version of the Peer Program, giving back in terms of handling fees and rebates, and the Pro tier protection period will be extended to November 30.

Within this week, Bitget will release a complete attack incident report.
