Iran: Reopening of Strait of Hormuz Depends on US Conditions; Iranian Navy Says It Has Seized US Underwater Drone

BlockBeats news, September 27: Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi said on Sunday local time that the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz depends on whether the U.S. side meets Iran's conditions, and stated that resolving the current deadlock through negotiations remains feasible.

Iran had previously proposed conditions including halting U.S. "acts of aggression," ending the maritime blockade and economic war, and releasing Iranian assets. U.S. President Trump said on Saturday that he had rejected Iran's latest conditional proposal, and WSJ, citing U.S. officials, reported that Trump is expected to possibly resume bombing Iran after the November midterm elections.

Meanwhile, the naval force of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed on Sunday that it captured a U.S. Navy Remus 600 unmanned underwater vehicle in the Strait of Hormuz, and said it had handed it over to relevant personnel for data extraction. U.S. Central Command has not yet immediately commented on this. Affected by the conflict between Iran and the United States, energy transportation in the Middle East has been severely restricted. WTI crude oil closed this week at $92.41 per barrel, down 7.9% for the week; Brent crude oil closed at $104.32 per barrel, basically flat during the week.
