BlockBeats news, September 27: Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin published a new article titled "The cryptographic world computer," stating that after years of future technological evolution, Ethereum will gradually become a system that is fundamentally different in architecture from traditional blockchains. Vitalik believes that Ethereum currently already possesses capabilities such as general computation, PoS, zero-knowledge proofs, and L2 scaling, and in the future will further introduce adjustable computation architecture, multi-party block building, highly optimized PoS, and zero-knowledge proofs deeply integrated into the base layer.
Vitalik stated that around 2030, Ethereum will undergo changes in core mechanisms such as transaction verification, consensus, block building, privacy, and computation, including shifting from re-downloading and executing blocks to SNARK verification and PeerDAS for data availability verification, from PoW to highly optimized PoS, and replacing single-entity block building with multi-party participation in block building.
He believes that in the future, Ethereum's decentralized network will not only be used for security and censorship resistance, but may also improve performance through parallel storage, parallel computation, and privacy protection. The Hegota upgrade may be Ethereum's last "traditional" hard fork, after which recursive STARKs, automated formal verification, optimized consensus mechanisms, and quantum-resistant technology will become the main development directions, ultimately driving Ethereum's transformation from a simple ledger into a "cryptographic world computer" that integrates blockchain, cryptographic privacy, verifiable computation, and decentralized off-chain components.
