BlockBeats news, September 25 — US stock index futures rose as oil prices and US Treasury yields pulled back from recent sharp gains, with the market awaiting key data on inflation expectations.
Subadra Rajappa, head of US research at Societe Generale, said: "Stocks remain relatively resilient, and we're not really seeing any meaningful tightening in financial conditions at the moment." The two factors that weighed on stocks this week eased Friday morning. The US 10-year Treasury yield edged lower after climbing sharply on Wednesday and Thursday. Meanwhile, oil prices fell overnight as the US and Iran are discussing a phased agreement that could lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the lifting of Washington's blockade on Iranian ports.
Tom Essaye, founder of Sevens Report, said in a note to clients that Friday's drop in oil prices and retreat in Treasury yields "provided relief for investors."
