Former Doubao PC head Qi Junyuan starts a new venture: personal Agent product Today officially launches in China.

Beating AI News Flash: Today, the personal AI assistant founded by Qi Junyuan, founder of Teambition and former head of Doubao PC, has officially launched in China. Today had previously been in open beta overseas, and this marks the first time it is available for download and registration to Chinese users.

The basic version is permanently free, and new users receive 100 million Tokens and 1 month of Pro benefits. It currently supports Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android.

Today continuously reads users' authorized emails, calendars, notes, and files, remembering important people, preferences, commitments, and unfinished matters. When there are new developments on a task, it can proactively come back to remind users and call on a cloud computer to continue handling operations in web pages, files, and other applications.

In a previous hands-on test by PingWest, Today was asked to help arrange an interview. It first found the contact from Gmail, then checked the calendar, recommended a time, and drafted the email, which was sent directly after the user confirmed. The next day, after the other party replied, the reporter did not issue another instruction, and Today connected the new email with the previous day's interview task on its own, continuing to provide the next steps.

Checking emails, looking at calendars, and sending messages on behalf are no longer new capabilities. The extra step Today takes is letting a matter continue to remain in the system after the conversation ends. When an email reply, schedule change, or other condition appears, it comes back to continue handling it. The problem lies here as well: the more it remembers and the more frequently it acts proactively, the higher the demands on memory accuracy, permission control, and privacy.
