BlockBeats news, September 23: A periodic transaction report (OGE Form 278-T) released by the U.S. Office of Government Ethics on September 22 shows that Trump's account bought Strategy Inc. (MSTR) Class A shares in late July. The 37-page form lists a total of 1,156 securities transactions in July, including three Strategy records: a sale on July 8 ($1,001–$15,000), a purchase on July 24 ($1,001–$15,000), and a purchase on July 27 ($50,001–$100,000). This is not the first time Strategy stock has appeared in his account. In the May filing covering January through March, a total of 8 Strategy transactions were listed, while in June there were 2 sales and no purchases. The two purchases on July 24 and 27 were new transactions in a subsequent window, adding to existing holdings.
According to BIT (bit.com) market data, MSTR has risen about 83% since July 24. Trump's purchases came during a difficult period for Strategy. The White House has previously said that the stock and bond ledgers are not traded by the president himself, and that the holdings are in a discretionary account managed by a third-party company, with some transactions used for model portfolios tracking recognized indexes. The filings are still made in Trump's name because he is the beneficiary.
