动察 Beating AI News Flash: LatePost reports that Alibaba Cloud's Wuying team is developing QwenBook, an "native agent computer" focused on office work, with a form factor closer to a tablet plus keyboard. The product definition and hardware are developed in-house by the team, utilizing Wuying's existing system and device-cloud capabilities. It currently integrates Qwen3.8-Max and Qwen3.8-Flash. IT之家 also saw a live demo unit today at the Yunqi Conference.
Simply put, Alibaba wants to embed Qwen directly into the system, allowing the Agent to access context such as files and meeting records, and then call tools to complete tasks—not just be a chat app. QwenBook has already developed its own applications including voice notes, Wiki, smart folders, email, knowledge base MyNote, and memory management MyZone, and is also partnering with Kingsoft to integrate WPS.
This is a different approach from Doubao Phone. Doubao primarily uses screen reading and simulated clicks to directly operate existing apps on the phone; QwenBook starts with office applications it can control itself. Doubao's approach has previously run into restrictions from third-party apps. The newly released Nubia NaviX Ultra still cannot automatically execute tasks within apps like WeChat, Taobao, Meituan, and Xiaohongshu.
QwenBook is still an early exploratory project. LatePost reports the team has about 150 people and was launched around April this year, with the full product expected to be released by the end of this year or early next year. At this stage, Alibaba appears to be building an office environment where Agents can truly get hands-on work done, before gradually connecting to third-party software.
