BlockBeats news, September 21 — AI trust layer and frontier AI lab 0G today launched Compute Finance (ComFi), a financial layer built around AI compute. Unlike assets that can only generate interest or token yields, ComFi allows digital assets to be directly converted into compute credits usable across various AI services. Also launching the same day is 0G's liquid staking product Ascend, along with a compute-based digital asset Infinite AI (iAI) planned for launch on September 29.
The user path is: stake 0G → receive a0G → mint iAI → stake iAI → earn compute credits → use AI services. a0G allows users to retain DeFi composability during the staking period, while being the only asset currently available for minting iAI. Under the initial parameter design, eligible staked iAI can earn daily compute credits with a nominal usage value exceeding $1, usable across products including 0G Private Computer (integrated with over 130 AI models at launch) and 0G App. Minting iAI locks the underlying collateral, while burning is used for unlocking; compute credits are restricted to designated AI services only, cannot be redeemed for cash, and do not represent interest or any guaranteed returns. iAI is also expected to launch on 0G's agent and token launch platform Comfy.fun.
Co-founder and CEO Michael Heinrich stated that equity brought dividends, proof of work brought new participation incentives, and DeFi expanded the utility of digital assets, while Compute Finance connects digital assets with the right to use AI compute — Ascend and Infinite AI being the first implementations of this approach. 0G positions ComFi as an open category for the entire AI ecosystem rather than a proprietary brand, and will simultaneously publish a complete Compute Finance thesis outlining a market framework where compute can be owned, earned, consumed, and traded.
