Beating AI News Flash: Anthropic's latest disclosure reveals that Claude can now lead 26% of AI R&D work, up from less than 1% in February. Over 90% of R&D tasks are now completed with at least some human-Claude collaboration.

The term "lead" here has a clear definition: humans only need to tell Claude the ultimate problem to solve, and it can complete most of the process on its own, with humans checking the results at the end. Currently, no type of R&D work can be fully handed over to Claude.

This figure goes a step further than Anthropic's previously disclosed "80% of production code written by Claude." Code is only part of R&D; this statistic also covers the entire R&D pipeline including model training, experimentation, evaluation, and infrastructure. On Anthropic's most commonly used internal platform, approximately 30,000 Agents are simultaneously doing research and engineering at any given moment.
