Jensen Huang: AI Safety Is an Engineering Issue, Not Requiring New Legal Regulation

Beating AI News Flash: Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has further clarified his stance on AI regulation. Speaking at Salesforce's annual Dreamforce conference, he stated that AI safety is first and foremost an engineering issue and does not require new laws and regulations. No matter how complex AI becomes, it is ultimately still software and computing systems, and safety issues should be addressed through improved testing and product gatekeeping.

His principle is also simple: if you are not confident about product safety, do not release it. Companies can pause to solve the problem first, then continue moving forward.

Huang believes that the market itself can already constrain companies, and there is no need to add another layer of new AI regulation. He also opposes framing development speed and safety as opposites, arguing that both can absolutely be achieved at the same time. Companies should advance as quickly as possible, and once a product is found to be potentially out of control or unsafe, they should stop and address it.
