动察 Beating AI News Flash: The Information, citing three people familiar with the matter, reported that ByteDance's revenue in the first half of this year was about $120 billion, up about 30% year-over-year. Net profit was about $20 billion, down by a single-digit percentage year-over-year. TikTok's overseas advertising and e-commerce continued to grow, but increased AI investment began to weigh on profits.
Based on this set of figures, ByteDance's first-half revenue was already slightly higher than Meta's approximately $117.1 billion in the same period. ByteDance's overseas revenue share also rose to more than 30%, compared with 25% in 2024, with most of it coming from TikTok.
ByteDance is also continuing to ramp up AI. Bloomberg previously said the company discussed raising this year's capital expenditure to as much as $70 billion, mainly directed toward AI infrastructure such as data centers. This month, ByteDance also secured a $29.6 billion syndicated loan, and Reuters said the funds are mainly used for AI projects outside China, including data centers in Southeast Asia.
