BlockBeats news, September 14: Tom Lee, Chairman of Bitmine and co-founder of Fundstrat, said ETH may see a notable rally in the coming weeks. He believes that ETH did not experience a downside breakout during its August consolidation, and that the expiration of indicators on the 12th means the uptrend may restart, with the single-day surge at the end of August possibly already a preview of the next leg up.
Lee pointed out that as of last Friday, ETH was the best-performing macro asset in Q3 2026, outperforming the S&P 500 by 5,866 basis points; since June 30, the top three best-performing assets were ETH, SOL, and BTC. He believes that crypto assets' significant outperformance relative to traditional macro assets in Q3 may create conditions for institutions to further increase crypto allocations.
For the coming months, Lee listed multiple potential catalysts, including the CLARITY Act vote in mid-September, South Korean investors shifting back from AI stocks to crypto assets, and the "four-year cycle" he expects to bottom in the coming weeks. He believes that as tokenization and Agentic AI continue to develop, the final months of 2026 may see sizable institutional crypto capital inflows.
Lee also believes that the ETH/BTC ratio is expected to continue rising in the new crypto cycle, with drivers shifting from the previous ICO, NFT, and stablecoin trends to Wall Street asset on-chain tokenization and Agentic AI's use of blockchain. Meanwhile, Bitmine increased its holdings by 27,180 ETH over the past week, and as of September 7 had staked about 5.067 million ETH, accounting for 85% of its ETH holdings.
