Two crypto billionaires splash $97 million to back UK Reform Party

BlockBeats news, September 13: BitMEX co-founder Ben Delo donated £36 million (approximately $49 million) to Reform UK, after which crypto industry figure Christopher Harborne announced an additional donation of the same amount. The two donations total £72 million (approximately $97 million), setting records for both single and combined donations to a UK political party.

Harborne stated that Delo's donation prompted his decision to follow suit, expressing hope that Reform UK would prepare for governance and emphasizing that he "seeks nothing in return." Delo said the donation was intended to ensure the next general election could be "fairly contested." Reform UK leader Nigel Farage welcomed both donations.

Previously, Farage had been investigated for accepting large donations and gifts related to the crypto industry. The related funds have also sparked discussions in UK political circles about the influence of crypto assets on politics and the regulation of political donations.
