DeepMind suddenly rumored to achieve RSI: Three capital letters ignite the community

Beating AI News Flash: The AI community is suddenly abuzz with rumors that Google DeepMind has already achieved RSI.

RSI stands for recursive self-improvement, widely regarded by many as the most critical step toward superintelligence. AI can improve its own training methods, code, and models, creating a stronger next generation, which then continues to upgrade further. Once truly operational, AI research and development could enter a self-accelerating loop.

The speculation began when the whistleblower account lyra sent Google DeepMind the message "huge congRatulationS Indeed!" — the three unusually capitalized letters spelling out RSI. Subsequently, Lentils posted what appeared to be an internal model list, in which rsi-model-liverl-le appeared. He also claimed that Google has 10 training model slots in the same series internally, but did not post corresponding screenshots.

The rumor may not necessarily be false. Reuters reported in August that Google co-founder Sergey Brin has asked DeepMind to accelerate Gemini development and specifically push for recursive self-improvement. DeepMind's official report in June also listed "recursive improvement" as one of four potential paths from AGI to ASI.
