Beating AI News Flash: DeepSeek has changed its tune. The latest official notice states that the V4 Pro API will continue to be available after September 14, with pricing unchanged. The previously planned automatic switch to V4.1 Flash has also been canceled.
Two days ago, DeepSeek announced that V4.1 Flash comprehensively outperformed V4 Pro in performance, price, speed, and total time, and planned to take Pro offline on September 14. After that, all deepseek-v4-pro requests would be automatically routed to V4.1 Flash.
This approach subsequently drew opposition from many developers. Many production environments had already fine-tuned their prompts and agent workflows around V4 Pro, and directly swapping models on the backend could cause behavioral changes. DeepSeek this time explicitly stated it was "in response to the needs of the vast number of users" that it would continue to keep V4 Pro, effectively retracting its original forced migration plan.
