Google Adds Gemini Windows App, but the Initial Version Is Not Much Different from the Web Version

Beating AI News Flash: Google has officially launched the Gemini Windows desktop app, supporting Windows 10 and 11, available globally. Press Alt + Space to summon Gemini from any interface without switching to a browser. Gemini Spark, Gmail and Drive connections, as well as Nano Banana image generation and Gemini Omni video generation, have all been brought in.

However, the debut version's "desktop capabilities" are still limited. According to 9to5Google, the current interface is basically just the web version plus a Notebooks and history sidebar. Google's own documentation also shows that the Mac version can already read screen content, support cross-app voice input, and let Spark organize local folders; these capabilities will be added to the Windows version later.
