BlockBeats news, September 10 — Apple's (AAPL.O) first foldable iPhone has officially debuted, and Goldman Sachs believes its pricing strategy and product design both exceeded expectations, potentially opening up the mass market and constituting a significant positive for the supply chain.
Goldman Sachs maintains its shipment forecast for the foldable iPhone: 14 million units under the base-case scenario in 2026, and 35 million units under the optimistic scenario.
The iPhone Duo features a 7.6-inch inner display when unfolded, the largest display in iPhone history; when folded, it uses a 5.4-inch outer display, with a screen area equivalent to 90% of the iPhone 18 Pro. Both displays support ProMotion, always-on display, and up to 3,000 nits of outdoor brightness.
The new device adopts a dual-battery architecture, supporting up to 44 hours of video playback when using the outer display. The iPhone Duo is available in two colors, Star White and Night Sky, and in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB capacities, with a U.S. starting price of $1,999; pre-orders begin on October 16, with official sales starting on October 23, and China and more than 70 other countries and regions will be among the first batch of markets.
China mainland pricing for the new iPhone lineup: iPhone 18 Pro starts at 9,999 yuan, iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at 10,999 yuan, and iPhone Duo starts at 15,999 yuan.
