Beating AI News Flash: DeepSeek has adjusted the retirement schedule for V4 Pro.
Yesterday, the official statement was that once V4.1 Flash officially launched, all V4 Pro requests would be automatically switched to the new model; the latest notice has changed this to taking V4 Pro offline at 12:00 on September 14, at which point all traffic will be switched to V4.1 Flash and billed at Flash pricing.
The previous automatic replacement plan drew opposition from many developers. Many developers worried that their prompts, agents, and production workflows already tuned around V4 Pro would run into problems because of a backend model switch. Some suggested that DeepSeek keep the old model available for a period of time and let users decide when to migrate.
DeepSeek did not say whether this adjustment was related to that feedback. But compared with the original "switch upon launch" plan, existing V4 Pro users now at least have a few days to migrate and test.
