BlockBeats news, September 10: Legendary trader Paul Tudor Jones today published an explosive op-ed in the Wall Street Journal, claiming that AI may become the third superpower alongside China and the US.
In response to recent warnings from employees at several major US AI companies that the rapid development of AI will pose a threat to human society, Jones argued that this threat is real and requires coordinated action from world powers. The two countries must commit to setting a timetable to control the development and proliferation of AI in a safe, controllable, and easily understandable manner. "If an AI model continuously reshapes itself thousands of times, what is the probability that it makes one mistake, causing the goal it pursues to diverge from the actual goal, thereby causing harm or even catastrophic consequences to humanity? Now, multiply that risk by tens of thousands of users."
In the article, Jones pointed out that a new superpower (AI) is about to join the fray. It is unpredictable, endless, and its scale may far exceed that of existing powers, whether viewed individually or collectively. He called on the leaders of existing powers to make AI safety their top priority for the remainder of their terms.
