BlockBeats News, September 9 - The Algorand Foundation has appointed William Herkelrath as CEO, who officially succeeded Staci Warden, who served for nearly five years, on August 31. Herkelrath will be responsible for driving Algorand's expansion into institutional finance and strengthening its technological positioning to address potential threats from quantum computing.
Herkelrath previously worked at blockchain oracle project Chainlink and crypto custody company Curv, and recently co-founded AI automation platform K3 Labs. He stated that Algorand's quantum-resistant accounts are already in actual operation, rather than still remaining on the roadmap, and will push for such capabilities to become industry standards in the future.
Algorand has already added post-quantum signature support in its v42 consensus upgrade, with its accounts adopting the Falcon-1024 signature system based on lattice cryptography. Additionally, Herkelrath and Alex Fowler, Chief Strategy Officer at Nexus Laboratories, will join the board of directors, while Rebecca Rettig and Michael Mosier will step down.
