BlockBeats News, September 8 - According to official sources, The Sandbox has announced the official opening of SAND compensation claims. Users affected by the SAND cross-chain contract vulnerability incident on the Base and BNB Smart Chain (BSC) networks on August 22, who held bridged SAND on the affected networks prior to the incident, are eligible to receive full compensation in SAND on the Ethereum network at a 1:1 ratio. Eligibility is determined by the on-chain balance snapshot taken before the incident and is independent of users' trading, transfer, or holding activities after the event.
The Sandbox stated that compensation eligibility is based on on-chain balances recorded before the contract was compromised. The Base network snapshot corresponds to block 50283188 at 23:42:03 UTC on August 21, 2026, while the BSC snapshot corresponds to block 117322025 at 11:42:44 UTC on August 21, 2026. Users holding SAND on the Base or BSC networks through centralized exchanges need not take any action, as The Sandbox is coordinating with the relevant exchanges to process compensation. Users holding via personal wallets are required to file claims themselves.
The claim window runs from September 8 to September 22, 24:00 (UTC+8). Claims only require the original wallet that held SAND at the time of the snapshot to initiate a single transaction—no token approval, no off-chain message signing, and no transfers to any address are needed.
