FT: Huawei begins coordinating domestic lithography machines, with Yusheng DUV targeting 12 units by year-end.

动察 Beating AI Flash News: Huawei is deepening its involvement in the domestic lithography machine supply chain. The Financial Times reports that Huawei is not only investing in related equipment and component companies but also coordinating suppliers, wafer fabs, and equipment manufacturers to push domestic DUV (deep ultraviolet lithography) machines into actual production lines. Bernstein analysts directly describe Huawei as the "project manager" of China's DUV initiative.

The fastest-progressing player is Shanghai Yuliangsheng. The company has participated in developing an advanced domestic DUV machine, with equipment currently being tested at wafer fabs like SMIC and on Huawei's own production lines, with plans to produce 12 units by the end of this year. At this stage, the focus is primarily on simpler chips, with the ultimate goal of enabling advanced AI chip manufacturing.

The domestic DUV machine has not yet fully escaped overseas supply chain dependencies. The projection lenses used by Yuliangsheng still come from Germany's Zeiss, and high-power light sources remain a major bottleneck. Huawei has already invested in companies such as Zhiqi Photonics and Keyi Hongyuan to address domestic lens and light source gaps respectively.
