The return of funds follows a prior on-chain communication, where the address claiming to be the "white hat hacker" stated that they would return the acquired Bitcoin once Blockstream fixed the relevant vulnerability. The incident is still developing.

Notably, during earlier communications with Blockstream, the Liquid "white hat hacker" promised to return the "majority" of the 4,000 BTC, rather than the full amount, with the unreturned funds potentially serving as a bounty.
