BlockBeats News, September 7 - According to the official WeChat account of ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT), its self-developed LPDDR6 chip has achieved mass production and commercial deployment, debuting in Xiaomi's 18Fold foldable flagship smartphone. This marks the first global commercial application of LPDDR6 products in a flagship mobile device.
Previously, according to CXMT's semi-annual report disclosure, the LPDDR6 chip delivers a comprehensive performance leap over the previous-generation LPDDR5X: through architectural innovation and data transmission optimization technologies, it fully unlocks data transfer potential, achieving peak speeds of 12800Mbps and a maximum chip capacity of 16GB.
LPDDR6 is the latest-generation LPDDR product internationally. In July 2025, the international standards organization JEDEC first released the LPDDR6 standard, and as early as March this year, industry sources reported that CXMT's LPDDR6 products had been sent for testing. From aligning with standards, product sampling, validation, to mass production and commercialization, CXMT ultimately succeeded in achieving the global debut of LPDDR6.
Amid the surging demand for AI, LPDDR6 is regarded as a key pillar for unleashing on-device AI computing power. Its application scenarios span smartphones, PCs, and other devices, extending to intelligent cockpits and AI data centers, laying a critical foundation for domestic terminal manufacturers such as smartphone makers to seize AI opportunities.
